Young Rider Dressage Team Finishes in Fourth at 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Riders’ Championships

Ottawa, ON --- The Canada East Young Riders Dressage Team finished in fourth place in the Team Competition on July 22 at 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Riders’ Championships, held July 21-26 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.

Canada East finished with a total score of 191.843 and was comprised of Jaimie Holland of Caledon, ON, Amy Jager of Puslinch, ON, Annie-Pier Venne of L’Assomption, QC, and Daisy Kosa of Toronto, ON.

Holland led the team with the highest score of 65.316%, partnered with her 11-year-old Westphalian mare, Fleurina.

Jager contributed a score of 64.474% to the team total, riding Jive, her 18-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding while Venne rode to a score of 62.053% aboard her 12-year-old Westphalian stallion Step Up. Kosa scored 59.632% with Katharine Renison’s 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding Robic.

Lindsay Seidel-Wassenaar of Blufton, AB, and her horse Oslo, who are riding as individuals, earned a score of 63.474%.

"All the riders rode exceedingly well,” noted Chef d’équipe, Ellen Rumball-Dvorak. "Everyone is excited with the results and ready to move on the individual test on Friday.”

The USA Region 7 Team took Gold with a score of 198.631, and USA Region 2 earned Silver, scoring 197.315. The Bronze medal went to USA Region 3 with 194.579.

The Team Championship test also acted as the first leg of the Individual competition for the Young Rider division, which continues on Friday, July 24.

Exclusively for Junior riders, aged 14–18, and Young Riders, 16–21, the NAJYRC gives up and coming riders the opportunity to experience representing their country as a team, and prepares them for future international competition. Featuring the disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, Show Jumping and Reining, the 2009 edition of NAJYRC is also featuring the FEI discipline of Vaulting for the first time.
