Ashley Holzer Named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for May

Ottawa, ON --- Toronto native and three-time Canadian Olympian Ashley Holzer, who resides in New York, NY, has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for May.
As the top Canadian rider in the North American World Cup League, Holzer and her Olympic mount Pop Art (Amsterdam x Cabochon), a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Rusty Holzer and Ian and Moreen Nicoll, represented Canada at the Federation Equestre International (FEI) Dressage World Cup Final that took place April 15–19, 2009, in Las Vegas, NV.
Holzer finished in fifth place in the Grand Prix test, on April 17, scoring 72.510%. The next day the pair then received a 79.20%, earning another fifth place finish, for their dramatic Freestyle, which was set to music from Disney Epcot Center fireworks display and from the motion picture National Treasure. The talented duo achieved personal best artistic scores up to 86% in the Freestyle and delivered the best Canadian placing at the FEI World Cup Finals in the past 20 years.
Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program to celebrate the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in national and international competition at the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horses classes.
