Sweet Georgia at Spruce Meadows "May Classic"

Calgary, AB --- The first day of the Spruce Meadows “May Classic” Tournament kicked off with the 1.40m Friends of the Meadows Welcome as the feature event. Of the 24 starters who attempted the Werner Deeg (GER) course, six were able to clear the 14 jumping efforts, moving onto the jump-off.

First in the ring for the jump-off was former Canadian Olympian Lisa Carlsen and her gelding Woody. The pair failed to take off crashing through the first jump resulting in elimination.

Conditions for victory were in place up for the High River native, Lindsay Hitchner and her mare Georgia. They finished their round clear with a time of 45.86. No one else came close to their time, making Hitchner the clear winner in the Friends of the Meadows Welcome.
