Wellington Training Club Overview: New Facility Breaks Ground For Equestrian Enthusiasts

Wellington, FL --- The Wellington Training Club is the first and only community of farms to be built in Wellington’s Equestrian Preserve in which owners will share use of a unique set of equestrian amenities.

Encompassing 525 acres south of 50th Street in the Equestrian Preserve, Wellington Training Club will have no more than 92 farms surrounding 66 acres of amenities at its core. Those include a huge covered arena, clubhouse, multi-purpose grassed fields and schooling rings.

Wellington Training Club is owned by Wellington Preserve Corp., a subsidiary of C.L. Financial Ltd. of Trinidad and Tobago. C.L. Financial Ltd. is a multi-billion dollar conglomerate that operates in banking and financial services, energy, wine and spirits, and insurance as well as real estate development.

“We wanted to do something that is really outstanding and top-notch,” said Karen-Ann Gardier, chief operating officer of Wellington Preserve Corp.

Wellington Training Club was designed by Wellington-based O’Dell Inc. Land Development Consultants. The company will act as project manager. Its team includes Smith and Moore Architects of West Palm Beach, landscape architect Lucido & Associates of Stuart and engineer Alan Gerwig & Associates of Wellington. Diane Jenkins of Jenkins Realty Inc. is the exclusive broker for the project.

With the central equestrian amenity available to the owners, each can dedicate more area on their own farms to the horses, said Mike O’Dell, principal of O’Dell Inc.

“Because they have the equestrian amenity, owners will be able to make their paddocks larger, their barns larger, and have more grazing area on their own property,” he said.

Wellington Training Club features a 78,000-square foot covered arena to be built of laminated wood and designed with a soaring buttressed ceiling. A standing metal seam roof will provide it with durability from the elements. Above the 180 by 300-foot riding surface is an elevated walkway for viewing or filming the horse and rider below.

Also at the heart of the complex is a 39,000-square foot, two-story clubhouse. The lower level features a gym and spa rooms, catering kitchen and Founder’s Study where owners and their guests can gather in a comfortable, warm setting. The study opens onto a 100 by 100 patio area known as Founders Grove. The expansive patio situated between the arena and clubhouse, provides an area for outdoor entertaining with swimming pool, barbecue, seating, arbors and fountain.

On the north side of the Grove is an elevated, covered walkway that connects the adjacent arena with the upper floor of the clubhouse. The upper floor features the elevated driveway to the main entrance, a main salon that can seat more than 300 guests and a catering kitchen.

South of the clubhouse, owners and their guests can exit to a grassed viewing area to watch horses work in the two multi-purpose grassed fields. The 10-acre field will be surrounded by an exercise track, and the adjacent 8 ½ acre field provides expansive open space for multiple activities. Nearby, the complex also features four all-weather rings, each 160 by 280 feet.

Throughout the community, Wellington Training Club will have a unique bridle system of fairways, wide enough not only for a trail ride but a work-out. Equestrians can access the 9 miles of fairways from their own farms, then ride throughout the community or to the central complex. The community also features three 2-acre riding parks tucked away for an additional riding environment.

Individual farms will range from 2 ½ to 10 acres, and properties can be assembled to create a larger farm. Owners will be members of a property owners association, which will own and manage the facility to keep the footing in the arena and rings in top condition and the grassed areas lush.
