Fairfield County Five-Day Horse Show Opens Tuesday, June 24th

Westport, CT --- More than 700 riders and horses of all ages and levels of ability will compete in the 200 classes to be held Tuesday through Saturday, June 24-28, 2008, on the grounds of the Fairfield County Hunt Club located at 174 Long Lots Road in Westport, Connecticut.

The show is open to the public with no admission fees and offers spectators the opportunity to experience the thrilling equestrian sport of show jumping. Spectators may also shop at the show's paddock boutiques and participate in daily activities that support the show's beneficiary, The EQUUS Foundation, Inc.

Featured equestrian events include the $10,000 Amateur-Owner/Junior Jumper Classic on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. The finale will be the $25,000 Fairfield Grand Prix, presented by Wachovia Securities, LLC & George N. Venizelos., on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 1:30 p.m.

Show jumping is the only sport where men and women compete against each other equally, and age often defies youth. The Grand Prix will feature some of top riders and horses competing against the clock at racehorse speeds while navigating over formidable obstacles as high as five feet.

The show benefits The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., a 501 c 3 tax-exempt charity created to raise public awareness of the value of the horse in society through education and the award of grants to charities that use the horse to benefit the public, promote horse welfare, and elevate the equestrian sport. The EQUUS Foundation has awarded over $850,000 in grants since its first awards in 2003.
