Wayne, IL --- The Wachovia Showplace Spring Spectacular II Horse Show, held at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL, is quickly approaching. The event is on June 17-22, 2008, and the highlight class of the week is the $50,000 Wachovia Securities Grand Prix, which is on Saturday, June 21, at 3:30 p.m.
The grand prix is the third event in the $50,000 Wachovia Securities Open Jumper Rider Series, which tracks the top grand prix riders through the series and awards prizes to the top three open jumper riders.
The Leading Rider Series is held over nine events. The final show is the Showplace Fall Classic Horse Show on September 17-21, at which all of the rider series awards will be presented after the $25,000 Wachovia Grand Prix.
Last year’s $50,000 Wachovia Securities Grand Prix winner was Haylie Jayne of Elgin, IL, on Merlin 369.
While the grand prix is the biggest jumper class of the week, there is a schedule full of classes for jumpers ranging from Schooling Jumpers and Young Jumpers to Modified Child/Adult and High Junior/Amateur Jumpers. The competition begins on Tuesday, June 17, where the major jumper class is the $5,000 Junior/Amateur Jumper Derby. The fun and interesting class is sponsored by the Hope Family.

In the late afternoon is the $5,000 Gentlemen’s Invitational, a spectator-friendly and fun class for everyone that will help raise money for charity.
The Children’s Jumpers and Adult Jumpers will have another chance at $1,500 in prize money in their Marshall and Sterling Classics, which are sponsored by Vermeer Midwest and Bill Kay Auto on Saturday morning. The grand prix ring will host the $2,500 Low Children’s Jumper Classic as well as the $2,500 Low Adult Jumper Classic, sponsored by Taylor Harris Insurance Services.
Sunday is the biggest day for prize money for non-professional jumper riders. The Wachovia Showplace Spring Spectacular II is known for providing fantastic prize money for all levels of riders, and the last day’s schedule shows why. The morning starts out with the $20,000 NAL Children’s/Adult Grand Prix, sponsored by Tapestry Farms.
